Enjoy?

I hope you enjoyed reading my first novel idea, if not, please forward your suggestions on what I should do different to Johann_Hollar@Yahoo.com, but please don't give me any of your negative reviews, for I shall delete them.  That's what the blog post is for.  I do plan on using your suggestions in writing a revision of this particular novel (which will be under the same post) also, do expect a sequel to the novel entitled "War in the Shadows: A Wulfkorp Novel".  It's only a possible title idea, but nonetheless I plan to bring you a sequel, for I hate leaving things with more questions than answers.

Look forward to reading your suggestions and comments, till then, good day.

Epilogue

Wulfkorp headquarters, Southern Rhineland, Prussia.

One week later

As the sun was setting over Castle von Wulfcastle, Schroeder in his Wulfkorp uniform with the Order of the Black Eagle around his neck and Helga wearing the beautiful coral blue and white dress from last time with the pearl and seashell necklace around her neck, were watching the sunset together for the first together in a long time.

“I always wondered when I’d get one of these” Schroder indicated to the Order of the Black Eagle around his neck.  “You deserved it and much more” Helga responded with a smile.  “I take it Lord Blackthorn is still unconscious?” Schroeder asked.  “Since the attack on the Blood Knights facility yes, but Dr. Kaminski and Schreiber are still getting a pulse from him, so he’s not dead yet.”  “That’s good, but he’s going still wish he was unconscious when he we put him into interrogation.”

“Oh Heinrich” Helga giggled.  They both leaned into together and kiss when loud laughing came from the dining room hall.  It was Ulrich in a Wulfkorp issued uniform and the Order of the Black Eagle around his neck.  “What are you kids doing out here, your missing all the feasting and fun” he laughed.  Schroeder and Helga chuckled as well.  “Well Heinrich, what are we waiting for?” Helga said as she kissed him on the check.  Everyone was there, Bruckner and his lover Sheila; also know as Lady Deadeye, the newly promoted Sergeant Wolfgang Friedan and his new girlfriend Dr. Hilda Schreiber along with Dr. Kaminski and Harbin.  Kurt was also there dressed in what was called a kimono.  Schroeder couldn’t tell, but he thought he saw Kurt smiling.  “Come on Captain” Schwartz appeared from around the corner with Kruger, both had women around their arms.  “Let’s go and enjoy ourselves.”

Before he could go in, Ulrich stopped him.  He raised his right arm and Schroeder thought he was going to get punched, but instead he saluted.  “It’s an honor to have served with you Captain Schroeder” he said with a smile.  Schroeder saluted him back.  “Go enjoy yourself now Ulrich, that’s an order.”  Ulrich maintained his smile as he saluted him off “Yes sir” he said as he went back into the dining hall where the baron and a fully
Captain Heinrich Schroeder, now a proud member of the Wulfkorp, escorted the love of his life into the main dining room hall, just as the last rays of sunlight disappeared.

Copenhagen, Denmark

The women dressed in black had been caring for the wounded man since she had brought him in; the doctor didn’t recall how long she had been there.  He was about ready to check on his patient, an albino colored man that was covered in a series of wounds, when he suddenly woke up.  The doctor was about to ask the lady to leave the room, when suddenly she jabbed a sharp object into the doctors gullet and he bled out so fast, that he didn’t know he was almost died.

The women looked down at the recovered man.  “You saved me” he said weakly “why?”  The women smiled with sadness in her eyes “Because the way you warm my blood and body at the same time.  I never felt such passion from looking at you or making love to you, since my last husband.”

“I see” he said with a smile that he had never had made before.  He tried to move, but he couldn’t.  “Don’t struggle too much Fallion, your wounds will reopen and as bad as that is you are paralyzed for life” she said with sadness in her voice.  “Then let me die Duchess, I don’t want to spend the rest of my life with you as a cripple.”  “I have another idea” she said “that can not only make you walk again, but also ten times stronger, faster and even immortal.  Long enough for us to get our revenge on Schroeder and that bitch Helga” she said optimistically.

Fallion smiled once more “What do you need to do?” he asked.  “It defies the orders of my master, but because I want you I don’t care” she said as she leaned in close to him “Something special” she said as fangs began to emerge from her teeth.  “Something very special” Duchess said as she sunk her teeth into Fallion’s neck.

Dunkirk, France
The city of Dunkirk was a dull place to meet up with contacts, but it wasn’t up to Plague Master to question the orders of Lord Blackthorn.  This was about as private as he could get without being noticed.  For Plague Master it was easy.  A series of locations were put on the map as he followed them to the letter.  He was dressed in a long coat, and a bowler hat while wearing a mask that managed to hide his unpleasant facial features.
“Those who strike in the shadows are fierce” a voice said.  “But are weak when facing the light” Plague Master responded.  The individual stepped out of the shadows.  He also was wearing a bowler hat with black great coat and a mask that was covering his face.  “His lordship?” the man asked in a cockney accent.  “Haven’t seen him in a week, told me to make contact if he didn’t show” Plague Master explained.
The individual nodded “then let’s be on our way” he said as he indicated Plague Master to follow his to the shipyards.  “Even if his lordship doesn’t appear, he told us you would take command in his place” the man said.  “That’s right, I don’t have to betray him to take his place and we all have the same goal.”  “To destroy the Black Skull Society and take the British Empire” the man said plainly.  “Yes” Plague Master said with a laugh “to take control of the Empire and the world, not the Black Skull Society.”

Somewhere in Eastern Europe

“So that’s what happened?” the man sitting on the throne said.  “Yes my milord, that’s exactly what’s happened” a man said overlooking the fireplace.  “It hardly surprise me that the Lord Blackthorn had thoughts of betraying me, but my apprentice, such news disturbs me” he said before taking a sip of a red liquid in his crystal glass, smacking his lips when he was finished.
“But nonetheless, we must proceed as planned, shouldn’t we Daearc the Black.”  The pale skinned warrior with eyes so blue that it would pierce any dark corner came forward dress in armor.  “That is correct milord, the unleashing of the virus was only the first step in our plans to destroy the Wulfkorp and then the world will be ours, just as you and Herr Schroeder here planned on doing.”
The man over the fireplace hissed at the very mention of the name “I told you Daearc, that’s not my name anymore.  Erick Schroeder died the day I joined the Black Skulls, my name is now Death Wing” the man said as he unfurled his black wings that would shudder any mortal man.
Daearc frowned and began to take a fighting stance, with his Halberd pointed at Death Wing, but the lord stopped him from advancing any further with a flick of his wrist right wrist.  “He is correct; from now on you will address him as Death Wing, just as you will properly address me as Lord.
“Yes milord” Daearc bowed.  The man rose out of his chair, he was a pale skinned man with slick-backed blonde hair.  He wore a noblemen’s outfit with a black cloak and dress clothes with a silk red tie around his neck.  Except for the fangs around in his teeth, he would have looked like a normal human being.
“Soon the world will know of the might of our order and bow to me…..Baron Helmut von Wulfcastle” he laughed out loud.

The End……for now.

Chapter 17

“Come on you ugly son of a bitch” Ulrich shouted out between the swipes he made at Steel Monger.  The creature got in a few swipes it self at Ulrich, but the creature itself was quite bloodied.  It just was harder for Ulrich to take down than other men.  But nothing would stop him from avenging his men.

“You took my men’s lives from them that day nine years ago, now I am here to pay them back” he roared at the top of his lungs.  Both man-giant and man-beast charged at each other head on. Ulrich stepped sideways as he jammed the machete in the unguarded area underneath Steel Monger’s armpit.  It howled in pain, that’s when Ulrich climbed on its head and started pounding away at its head.

Again and again and again, he struck at the creatures head with his bare hands.  It was struggling to grab him and throw him off of his shoulders, but to no avail.  Finally with one gigantic hammer strike, the creature’s skull caved in.  The creature went into a pained frenzy that shook Ulrich off, the creature grabbed at its head trying to subdue the pain as it fell to its knees.  It looked up once more to see Ulrich with his eyes blazing and the bloodied machete in his right hand.

“For my men and all the innocent people you killed” he said before plunging the machete into the creature’s skull.  The creature stood up once more trying to remove the machete, but even in its death throes, it couldn’t be removed.  With its last ounce of strength, it finally collapsed on the wall near the castle gates.

Ulrich collapsed to his knees in exhaustion.  Finally after all these years, he would finally find peace.  “My comrades” he said to himself as he remembered the faces of his fallen comrades.  “You have been avenged"

It was a true duel to the death between Hideo Sasaki, member of the Black Lotus Clan and Kurt Holden, son of Albert and Hitomi Holden, were locked in battle between good and evil.  They both had been cut badly by each others swords, but nonetheless, neither was willing to give up.

“You know my father failed to kill you?” Hideo spat.  “He had to commit hara-kiri because of his failure.  If it wasn’t for that bastard uncle of yours saving your life, he would have lived and I wouldn’t have to fight you for my family’s honor” he launched at Kurt.

“You call it honor to kill innocent people? Kurt replied coldly.  “Only if it preserves the purity of the Japanese people” Hideo replied acidly.  “I wonder how many Japanese would agree to that” Kurt said with a smile, as it made Hideo much madder.  “It doesn’t matter how must die, the purity of Japan is much more important than life itself, no matter how many thousands must die, Japanese should be Japanese, not foreign scum like you” he roared as he charged at Kurt.

It’s just what Kurt needed.  Hideo was so maddened by what Kurt had said and what he was, that he didn’t notice the tanto that he had hidden behind him.  When Kurt timed it right, he throw up the sword with his right arm to block Hideo’s attack and at the same time, gave a mighty thrust with his left hand, jamming the knife into Hideo’s gullet.  Blood poured out from his mouth as he grabbed at the wound around his stomach.

“Half-breed dog” Hideo cursed as he fell over the battlements and plunged to the earth below.  Kurt sighed as he looked over the side.  “We could have been brothers, but instead you choose to be my enemy” he said sadly.  He sheathed his sword once more.  “Mother, Father, Uncle, if your listening, I hope I’ve done you proud”.

************************************************************************

“That’s the last of the explosives, let’s get the hell out of here” Wolfgang shouted.  The troops along with Schwartz made a mad dash for the stairwell, when suddenly Wolfgang got hit.  “You bastards’ Schwartz shouted out as he fired back, taking out the Knights that got him.

“Hope they don’t cut off your leg” Schwartz joked as he picked up Wolfgang.  He chuckled “At least then we’ll have something in common then” he joked.  “Don’t expect an Order of the Black Eagle just yet, first we have to get out of here” Schwartz said as he picked up the wounded Corporal and helped get out.

**********************************************************************

“You die now” Fallion hissed with his hand wrapped around Schroeder’s neck as he was pushing him against the railing that lead into the pit where Duchess had fallen in earlier.  He had given Fallion a good pummeling, but the body slam did take up a lot of his strength, Schroeder thought the same would be said of him, but much to his disappointment it had no effect.

Just as he was about to pass out, several thuds were heard.  Fallion seized up and let go of Schroeder.  When he fell to the ground he had seen who it was.  It was Helga with her steam-powered crossbow.  Fallion tried to charge at her but she had her weapon on full auto and unleashed a volley of bolts.

By the time she ran empty, Fallion looked like a giant pin cushion.  He stumbled backwards and fell into the giant pit.  Helga walked over to Schroeder and began to help him up.  “Looks like I owe you one” Schroeder smiled.  “Don’t worry Heinrich, we’ll find a way to make up for it” she said with a smile.  He then had a question “Duchess, Blackthorn?”

“That bitch is the same pit in hell with that albino colored freak and Blackthorn” she indicated to Harbin and Kruger who were carrying an unconscious Blackthorn “He’s no longer a problem” she said maintaining her grip on Schroeder.  “We have to get out of here; the explosives are set to go off any minute.”

**************************************************************************

The explosions went off as Helga said.  Both the steel mills and God-Slayer went up in a series of fiery explosions.  The hot molten steel poured into the castle, destroying it from with in and from without of the castle, it covered the entire village in hot lead, but not before the remaining members of the Wulfkorp escaped the to where the tanks and suits were positioned to quarantine the area and prevent the virus from expanding beyond the village.

A series of tanks came in with the wounded upon which were loaded up after the first explosions were heard.  Dr. Schreiber was working on and infected trooper to make sure he was cured and others more poured in.  She was about to summon the next set of wounded when a familiar face plopped down beside her.

“Wolfgang!!!” she said as her face lit up.  “The one and only” he smiled.  She plunged right into him and gave him a whooper of a kiss.  “I am happy to see that you have survived” she said shedding tears of joy.  “I promised you I’d come back alive, didn’t I?” he said grinning.  She began wiping away the tears “Yes you did” she looked at him again to see his leg was wounded.

“Oh my god, we have to get you fixed up before you lose your leg like Cadet Schwartz” she helped him onto the bed.  He grabbed her arm before she could induce anesthesia “don’t cut off my leg.”  She smiled before injecting him.  “Don’t worry, your leg, we can save.

Chapter 16

A loud explosion rumbled through the halls as Helga and Schroeder descended the halls along with the rest of the troopers.  “What the hell was that?” Schroeder asked.  God-slayerHarbin added in “we heard about its production from our spies, but we never figured they would use it now” Harbin explained.  “Well they sure as hell are using it now” Wolfgang added in.  “There’s no time to waste” Helga stated “we need to spike that gun.  From what our spies reported, the steel mill is close by.  If we set enough explosives around there, it will produce quite the nasty bang.”

“Then what are we waiting for?” Schwartz said “Let’s go spike us a gun.”  “Alright, here’s the plan” Helga stated “Heinrich, you and Harbin are with me to try and spike the gun, Freidan, you and Schwartz take the rest of the men plant some explosives around the steel mill.  Set it for five minutes then run like hell, understood?”  Everyone acknowledged with a set of nods.  “Right, let’s go do some damage.”

They began traversing their way down a series of hallways, running and gunning down Blood Knights here and there.  The farther they went into the castle, the hotter it got.  “We must be closing in on the steel mill” Schroeder piped in.  ‘Must be, otherwise it wouldn’t feel as warm than it was upstairs’ Harbin added in.  After running down a several flights of stairs, they noticed a glowing light at the end of the hallway.

Helga set her automatic-crossbow to full auto just as Heinrich and the others set their assault rifles to semi-auto.  They put their backs to the wall; Schroeder peeked around the corner and saw no-one.  He indicated for them to follow, they cautiously walked across the steel walkways that oversaw   the molten hot steel that was poured into the various vats.  So far they were undetected and that’s what made Helga nervous.

“I don’t like the looks of this” she said sweeping her steam-powered crossbow across every point of attack.  “Let’s carry out the mission, but be careful” she ordered.  Wolfgang took point while the rest of the troopers took the middle and Schwartz took the rear.  As they made their way to the stairs to the steel works, Helga, Schroeder and Harbin scaled up a series of staircases towards the upper levels where the God-slayer was.

So far they had encountered no Blood Knights until now.  Several of them had their backs to them as they came up the stairway.  Just as one was about to turn around, Helga filled him full of crossbow bolts.  “Alarm” he shouted with his dying breath.  Just as the Knight collapsed to the floor with a loud thud, the others took notice and just before they could open fire upon the three Wulfkorp commandos’, they themselves unloaded their weapons upon them.

Shots rang off here and there off the steel floors where the God-Slayer was positioned.  Try as they might, the Blood Knights were not as many as encountered before which seemed odd to Helga.  Just as Schroeder had given the “all clear” from his sweep, Helga moved out, just as Harbin was moving, Schroeder was flung across the room with purple electricity zapping over him.  Before Helga and Harbin could bring up their weapons, two shots knock their weapons out of their hands.

They looked up to see that it was Duchess and Fallion, along with a man who looked like he was part of the nobility.  “Blackthorn!!!!” Harbin said with contempt in his voice.  “In the flesh” he bowed politely “I would ask you not to mess with the God-Slayer but you’re going to do that anyway.  What’s say that we settle this like real warriors, bare handed or melee weapons, it doesn’t matter.  What do you say?” “Fine by me, I’ve wanted another crack at Herr Schroeder since he scarred my face” Fallion sneered.

“I’ve wanted to have so more fun with this pretty young thing” Duchess referred to Helga as she was licking her knives.  “That being said, I’ll take on Herr Wolfiwitz” Blackthorn stated as he undid his cloak and then twisted his cane, revealing a long sharp cane sword.  “Have at you” Blackthorn said as he charged at Wolfiwitz.

***********************************************************************

“Come on you ugly bastard” Ulrich sneered as Steel Monger fired off another shot at Ulrich.  He had enough of this shit he decided to end the chase.  Ulrich leapt out from behind one of the destroyed buildings, to make a head on dash at Steel Monger.  It tried to track him with the device, but Ulrich kept zigzagging and the shots went wild.  When Ulrich got up to the creature, he climbed onto its back and began hacking away at the shoulder mounted rocket launcher that was on its back with a machete.

The creature howled madly as the thing that was on his back began hacking away at bone and sinew.  When Ulrich gave one last got strike at the creatures shoulder, he sheathed the machete and with all his might, ripped the launcher off of the creature’s back.  It howled loudly even more so in pain as blood spewed out from his back.  When it regained its senses, it noticed that the man-giant was standing in front of him with his arms wide open and large knife in his right hand.

“Alright you goddamn motherfucker” he spat out some blood dripping out of his mouth “It’s time to end this.”  Ulrich bellowed out a charge and Steel Monger did the same.  It would be as Ulrich hoped, would be the final battle between man and monster.

**********************************************************************

“Where are you she-bitch?” Ivan shouted out as he walked across the bridge.  “I haven’t got all day, so why don’t you and your boyfriend come and die already” he shouted out.  Sheila had an idea for how they were going to take   out this annoying pest, but it required a little distraction, one on Sheila’s part.  “Hey firefly” Sheila shouted out.  Ivan turned around to see it was Sheila just as when she first met him.

“That’s right you bastard” she said as she was dripping wet and naked “I told you before and I’m gonna tell you again, take a good look at this heavenly body cause it’s the last thing you’ll ever see again” she said thrusting out her chest with her revolvers in hand.  Ivan gave a wicked smile “Nice try pretty lady, but you won’t fool me again like that.  Like they always say “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice…” before he could finish his sentence, shots rang off his backpack and then exploded.

Ivan was screaming in pain like he had never screamed in pain before.  He didn’t understand.  He was supposed to be immune to fire.  This was clearly the shots of a professional.  Before he collapsed down to be consumed by the fires of hell he took one last look at who had shot him.  It was a scarred face man who was also soaked by the moat water.

“I’ll see you again in hell” Ivan laughed his last.  Bruckner grabbed Sheila and made a mad dash away from the drawbridge before it was engulfed in fire and then exploded.  Bruckner and Sheila turned around to see it.  “Hope that’s the last of him” Sheila said as she rung out her hair.  “Somehow I doubt it” Bruckner said plainly.  “Thanks for holding my clothes for me” Sheila said as she began to get dressed again.

“No problem my love” Bruckner said “by the way, there’s something I’ve been meaning to do.”  “What’s that” Sheila asked quizzically.  Bruckner pulled her in for a kiss and then slapped her butt.  Sheila blushed as he did that. “You said that one day I would get to do that to you, well I did just know.”  “Oh Bruckner, I do love you so” as she pulled him in for another kiss.

*********************************************************************

Kurt was intending to join up with Helga and Schroeder after climbing up several flights of steps on the battlements, but then he felt an eerie chill and he knew what that meant.  He drew his sword once more, then sliced backwards with his sword and then steel rang against steel and the cold sadistic smile of his old rival appeared before him.

“Hideo Sasaki” Kurt said coldly “today is the day you die.”  “We shall if that’s the case” Hideo said plainly.

**********************************************************************

“Where the hell did these bastards come from” Schwartz said in between shots.  “Hell if I know” Wolfgang shouted back “But if you can just buy me enough time to plant the last of these explosives and return the favor with a beer.”  “That sounds good to me” a familiar voiced rang out as more gunfire was brought in.  It was Kruger and several other Wulfkorp troopers with him, using suppressive fire.

“Nice to see you again Cyclops” Schwartz said sweating half to death.  “You too peg leg, what’s say we give these guys hell and make a break for it?” Wolfgang grinned “That sounds right for me” he said reloading his assault rifle “but Commander Braun and the others went to spike the gun.”  Kruger nodded “Alright, I’ll leave my men here with you, I’ll go and see what their status is, cover me.”  “Covering fire” the troops shouted out as they fire off shots that rang off of steel melting pots and girders.

***********************************************************************

“Take that you bitch” Duchess said as she took multiple swipes at Helga.  She already tore up her suit leaving it in shreds to almost reveal her ivory colored skin.  There was no way in hell she was going to have the last articles of her clothing torn off by this witch.  Duchess managed to push her back against a railing that was the pit where the gun came from.

“When I am done tearing off the last of your precious clothes, I am gonna chain you up and whip you, I going flay the skin of your back, I am going to cut parts of your body with sharp knives, I will make you my slave to the desires of men and myself.”

“I don’t think so” Helga spat as she gave a good shove that knocked Duchess off her feet.  Duchess regained her senses and the came charging at Helga with her knives drawn and screaming for blood.  It was at that moment that Helga took out a knife that she stole from Duchess when she wasn’t looking.  Just as she was close enough, Helga slammed the knife into Duchess’s gullet.

Duchess had a look of surprise and shock on her face.  She was grabbing the area around her wound and tried to form words, but she couldn’t.  She then fell back onto the rail and then fell over into the pit where the gun had emerged from.  With that done Helga picked up her steam-powered crossbow and grabbed the explosives to spike the gun.

**********************************************************************

Schroeder had been more bruised than he ever remembered in his entire life, but he still managed to bruise that albino face freak Fallion enough to make him look like a well worn punching bag.  He had no idea that Fallion was a formidable fighter.  Fallion then moved in and rained in flurry of punches that Schroeder had a hell of a time blocking.  “Not much of the fighter types are you?” Fallion spat blood on him with a sneer.

“I am better than you think I am” Schroeder spat blood out as he then leapt up to body slam Fallion.  He was caught of guard by this recent attack, then Schroeder rolled off of him and stood up, waiting as Fallion did the same.  “Very clever Herr Schroeder” he said wiping blood from his mouth with his arm “But not clever enough” he roared as he charged into Schroeder.

*************************************************************************

Purple lighting buzzed at Harbin as he ducked out of the way.  “You don’t even know the basics of spell casting and you think you can take me on?” Blackthorn chuckled.  “I may not know much about casting spells” he said as he undid he vest and then ripped off his shirt, revealing a tattoo that made Blackthorn cringe.  “But I know enough about it to know what this means.”

It was the sign of the Teutonic Knights, the warriors who since from their creation, fought sorcery and the blackest of arts.  “I am descended from the Teutonic Knights of the Holy Roman Empire” Harbin yelled coldy.  “But is it enough to stop me?” Blackthorn roared as he threw gigantic lighting bolts with both his hands.  Harbin felt the pain from the bolts, but it didn’t stop him from charging at Blackthorn with all his might.

When Harbin was almost upon him, he put all his might into one great punch.  In doing so, his fist connected with Lord Blackthorn’s face and knocked him out cold.  With that being done, Harbin saw that he did more than he wanted to.  Lord Blackthorn was unconscious and almost dead looking.  “That’s what happens when you dabble with the black arts” Harbin said as he began to re-button his vest.

Chapter 15

The Wulfkorp Battleships Barbarossa and Odoacer unleashed a five minute salvo fire upon the the headquarters of the Blood Knights.  The attacks played hell on the moral of the Blood Knights, killing a few Templars and many more regular troops, but the castle was so fortified by the fact that it was built within the mountain, that the shells could not damage the fortress as bad as it could have been.  But destroying the castle wasn't the plan, for the role of the battleships was to merely damage the defenses of the castle and district the defenders long enough so that Schroeder landed on the castle battlements along with the other Wulfkorp troopers, including Helga, Schwartz and Wolfgang.
He had lost his assault rifle just earlier when a Black Wing grabbed it away from him and forced him to draw his sword.  When he began slashing away at what he thought was a person, he instead found out that it once was a man, but now it was fang-toothed grey skinned creature that hissed loudly at him. Nonetheless, he managed to slay the creature before hitting the chute and landing on the castle walls.
Blood Knight Troopers came at him with swords and guns so fast, that Schroeder didn’t have the time unhook his pack.  With a quick left draw he drew his sidearm and switched it to triple shot. Few troopers fell as they got close enough for him to use his sword.  He slashed and hacked the remaining Knights as if he was slicing through butter.  “Ulrich makes a damn fine sword” he said to himself.  “Heinrich” a voice shouted out.  It was Helga who had just finished dispatching a group of Blood Knights along with Harbin.
Schroeder undid his pack and sheathed his sword before going over to Helga.  “You dropped this” she said as she handed him the assault rifle he thought he lost.  “Nice of you to find it for me” Schroeder said with a brief smile.  “There’s no time for pleasantries Heinrich, we need to blow these guns, so that the rest of the troops can drop in.”  “The rest of the shells used for these guns can be used as explosives” Wolfgang chimed in.  “Excellent, take off the tops and dump the gun powder, then light it up” Helga commanded.
The troopers that had already arrived began ransacking the storehouse where the remaining shells were stored to attend to the task.  It didn’t take long for them to grab the barrels of gunpowder and make several lines that lead to the powder kegs.  Once the fire was lit, Schroeder and the group made a mad dash into the castle just as the fuse reached its limit.
***********************************************************************
A large explosion sounded from within the castle as Lord Blackthorn was making preparations within the steel mill.  “They’ve infiltrated the castle” Blackthorn howled.  “Not to worry my lord” Fallion said keeping his cool “This is where they die” he said as he pulled a switch.

************************************************************************
The loud explosions threw off Ulrich for only a mere second, when he had seen where the explosion came from he grinned.  “Commander Braun and her troops are in, let’s give these maggots hell, Wulfkorp style” he shouted as he smashed an infected villager with his mini-gun.  Upon crashing into a building that was once a church, he and the troopers unloaded with a volley of death.
“I can’t imagine these Blood Knights ever coming here on a Sunday” Sheila joked as she spat out some tobacco.  “That’s only because they want to look innocent, when in reality their nothing more than a bunch of Satan loving scum” Kruger spat as he kicked a downed infected in the head.  ‘”Never pegged you for religious type, Kruger” Bruckner said as he smashed an infect Blood Knight in the head with the butt of his rifle.  “After seeing all this at the end of a mission, a man’s got to keep his sanity somehow” Kruger said as he took out a group of infected with his rifle.  “I usually settle with a bottle of Whiskey when it ain’t Sunday” Sheila said as she finished reloading her irons to dispatch a few infected ones.
Upon emptying the church full of infected, they moved out.  The town looked rather simple, French countryside style housing with vineyards.  Except for the fact that it was crawling with infected, it would have looked less like a facility to the Blood Knights and more like a simple village with castle over looking it.  A Wulfkorp trooper came up to him “We have the front half of the village secured sir.  What are your orders Sergeant?” the trooper asked.
“Shack up with us and let’s secure the town, let the rest know that they need to remain with the armored suits and wipe out the rest of the infected” Ulrich commanded.  Before they could move out they heard several screams come form a distance, when they saw what was happening Ulrich grinned.  A group of Blood Knights were getting torn to shreds by infected ones and fighting a desperate battle to escape.  “Looks like it’s hurting them more than us” Ulrich chuckled.
At that same time, large rumbling sound could be heard.  For a moment the sound of gunfire went silent.  When Ulrich’s squad looked up to see where it came, it was Sheila who pointed it out “it’s coming from the castle” she said as she nervously pulled out some tobacco and handed some to Bruckner.  It was as if there was a large door on the castle wall.  “I got a bad feeling about this” Kruger said as he looked nervously as he took a few pot shots at some infected that came close.
What came out of the castle side was possibly the largest man-made artillery piece known to man.  It was as long and as wide as a The Zweihander of the Sea.” “Ohhhhhhhhhhh Shit!!!” Ulrich said to himself.

************************************************************************
“Steel Monger, Ivan, you may go down and destroy to your hearts desire” Blackthorn grinned.  “But my lord won’t we get shot at too?!!!!” Ivan said as he had a look of panic on his face at the size of the cannon that had taken years to make.  “Then stay out of the way if you don’t want to get hit” Duchess said coldly with a sadistic smile.  “But I…” he was cut off in mid sentence as Steel Monger grabbed him and jumped down the side of the castle, axe in his left hand, a screaming Ivan in his right hand and a new attachment to his left shoulder. “Now, let’s test the power of the God-slayer” Blackthorn said chuckling.  “Fire when ready."

When the cannon fired, it was as if the heavens itself was getting ripped apart.  The sound was deafening to the point where everyone below thought they lost their hearing.  Ulrich and his unit were prepared for the worst and had their ears covered even before the shot went off.  “Man oh man” Sheila said as she tapped her left ear with a gloved hand “that’s the loudest one of those I’ve ever heard.”  “Then let’s hope that Heinrich and the rest of the troops dismantle it, before it fires again” Bruckner replied.
As they left what was an abandoned tavern, they heard a large noise coming down from the side of the castle side.  When Ulrich looked up he grinned once more, it was Steel Monger and he was carrying a man who was screaming his lungs out.  When Steel Monger came down from the castle, he dropped the screaming man.  He looked different than he did last time.  He noticed a large tube-shaped object on his right shoulder.  Ulrich knew what it was “take cover!!!!!!” he shouted out loud.  Just as everyone ducked for cover, an explosion erupted where they had once been standing.
“That cowardly monster” Ulrich spat “I almost bested it the last time, now it thinks that it’s not going to win this round against me, so it goes and gets itself a shoulder mounted rocket launcher.”  Ulrich looked around to see that only five troopers made it, including the trooper that reported in to him.  He was glad to see Sheila, Bruckner and Kruger had made it.  “Alright, here’s the plan.  Sheila, you and your new boyfriend take Kruger along with the remaining troopers and get into that castle and help Commander Braun spike that damned cannon, I’ll draw that creature’s fire.”
“You sure this ain’t one of your “I’m taking him on alone” speeches?” Sheila said as she spat some of her tobacco out.  “You know what needs to be done” Ulrich bellowed “Now go and help the Commander and her friends.”  Ulrich began to undo the straps around his back and dropped his mini-gun.  “This will make him harder to catch me” Ulrich grinned.
“I hate it when Ulrich does that” Kruger sneered as he led Sheila and Bruckner along with the rest of the troops around what was left of the town.  Sheila looked around and just as they left from the burnt out house they had ducked out of the way into.  Sheila looked around and noticed someone was missing.  “Where’s Kurt” she asked.
After Ulrich crashed the tank into the side of the church, Kurt snuck away from the rest of the group when he knew they’d be able to handle themselves without him.  He made a mad dash for the castle, while slaying a few infected on the way.  “This ends today Hideo, your going to pay for what you did to my parents” he said to himself angrily as he cut down another group of infected just before reaching the castle drawbridge which was down.
“Kurt” he heard someone saying.  He turned around to she it was Sheila and Bruckner along with Kruger and a small group of Wulfkorp troopers that managed to join them.  “Sorry Sheila, I have my own matters to attend to, in the meantime, this may be my last task for the Wulfkorp” he said as he turned around to take a forward flip that went so high, that he landed on the barbican.  A few gunshots could be heard here and there, but it died down shortly before the castle gates opened.
Sheila was dumbfounded by what Kurt had said and done, but what was important is that he was still carrying out his mission to the last.  “Alright, let’s move out” Kruger ordered.  He managed to round up a few troopers here and there while traveling through the village.  Sheila still stood there silently as the troops moved into the castle.  Bruckner noticed she hadn’t moved.  “What’s wrong?” Bruckner asked sympathetically.  “I think he’s going to die” she said as she began to shed tears.  “You really care about him don’t you?” Bruckner asked.  “Ever since I joined the Wulfkorp, he’s been like a brother to me.  If it wasn’t for him five years ago, I wouldn’t be here.” she took off her cowboy hat and began to wipe away the tears that she had been shedding.
‘We all die someday love, what matters most is that we remember how we cared about them in this life” Bruckner said as he took Sheila into his arms and hugged him.  “Thanks sweetheart” she said as she finished sobbing.  After Bruckner finished hugging her she put her hat back on.  “Alright, let’s kick some ass” she said as she and Bruckner made way for the gates.
Just before they could enter, a great wall of fire erupted in front of them.  “I have a feeling of déjà vu” Bruckner said to himself.  “That’s right you puny insect” a loud cackling sound said as a figure “and it’s time for you to burn’ as Mad Ivan stepped out the fire and began spewing death as Sheila and Bruckner jumped out of the way and into the moat.
“That firefly just doesn’t know when to quit” Sheila said as she had surfaced.  Bruckner surfaced after her “Well today is the day we snuff out this firebug.”

Chapter 14

Blood Knights Base

Normandy, France

“A foolish endeavor it may have sounded like to you Ivan, but with you and Steel Monger, it would be hard enough for them to maintain control over the mission” Blackthorn said apathetically while taking sips of his afternoon cup of tea “especially considering the fact that you and they wouldn’t be well equipped enough to destroy the Wulfkorp entirely” he said taking another sip.

“But the Master said…” Ivan was about to continue went Plague Master grabbed Ivan and slammed him against the wall for his defiance.  He then pointed the nozzle of his Plague Gun that was strapped onto his right arm at Ivan.  Lord Blackthorn drank up the last of his earl grey tea. “Don’t tell me what the lord wants and what he doesn’t want, you know as well as I do, that he wants the Wulfkorps destroyed.  How it’s done is for him to decide.  If he wants to toy with them, torture them or even have them destroyed, that’s for him to decide when and how” he said to Ivan coldly

Plague Master still maintained his left handed grip on Ivan’s collar and right arm nozzle was still pointed at him.  He had his plague cannon put away in his personal quarters, but still keep the nozzles of his plague guns strapped to his arms.  It kept his hands free and weapons at the ready should they be needed.  “You can release him now, this retard has learned his lesson” Blackthorn said coldly.

Plague Master released his grip on Ivan as Blackthorn got up from his chair, obviously bored with the lack of sunlight on this particular grey day.  Blackthorn was about to ask Plague Master something, but then he heard gun shots.  Before he could ask what happened, a figure stumbled out from around a corner with knives in chest.  The man walked a few feet, trying to lift his gun against Blackthorn, but died before he could have the chance to fire off a shot.

The man was dressed in the uniform of a Blood Knight Templar, the officer class of the Blood Knights.  Duchess and Fallion came from around the corner.  “The man was a spy” Fallion said coldly.  “And what’s worse, is that we caught him informing the Wulfkorp of our location” Duchess added in with a hiss as she began to remove the knives from the dead man’s chest.

“Shit” Blackthorn cursed “now that they where we are, an attack is imminent.  Granted we bloodied their noses a bit by hitting their headquarters, but it won’t be enough to stop them from attacking us” he spat.  “If we were to unleash the weapon now, only half the test subjects would get infected” Plague Master wheezed in.  Blackthorn thought for a moment, then gave an evil grin “You may be onto something Plague Master.  Here’s the new plan” he said as Fallion and Duchess joined in.

“We will prepare ourselves for an attack by the Wulfkorp, but we’ll unleash the virus on the locals just as they arrive.  Plague Master” he pointed to him.  “You’ll be in charge of unleashing the virus on the local population when the Wulfkorp arrive they’ll be in for a real fight, meanwhile the rest of us will finish them and the master himself will be quite pleased.”  “We get to kill again” Ivan said as he was picking himself up.

Blackthorn smiled cruelly “Yes Ivan and that means the Wulfkorp will threaten us no more.”  Just as he finished that thought, an alarm went off.  A nearby Blood Knight rushed to Lord Blackthorn’s side.  “Milord, tanks and armored suits spotted over the horizon.

“Then engage them already you damned fools.  Unleash Steel Monger on them you incompetents” Blackthorn spat.  The trooper bowed to acknowledge the order.  “There isn’t much time, Fallion and Duchess, do what you need to and take Ivan along with Sasaki, I must oversee the final touches of our master piece.”  “You don’t need to tell me that” Fallion replied.

When they left the Blackthorn and Plague Master behind, Blackthorn stopped Plague Master for a moment.  “When you’re done spreading the virus, take your leave and meet the area we agreed upon.  The master must not know of our plan.  Understood?”  Plague Master nodded.  “You’re the only one I can trust” Blackthorn finished.

Blood Knight Troopers began to swarm the area around the lower battlements of the castle as orders were being barked and were manning the anti-air cannons; a Blood Knight Templar with a squad of men came from around the terrace.  “Milord, we must get you inside, they’re attacking from the sky.”  “From the sky” Blackthorn looked up to see a large object, high up in the sky and small objects falling from it.  “Send in the Black Wings as well” Blackthorn shouted as he and Plague Master made way into the castle.

“Now I have a reason to hate heights” Cadet Schwartz said uncomfortably.  “After a while you’ll get used to it, besides this is only the experimental model wait till you see the latest designs we have for more airships” Harbin said as he strapped a strange looking machine to his back.  “Great, I feel much better now” Wolfgang said with a queasy look on his face.

The vehicle that General von Krieger had described to him was impossible for Schroeder to believe, but it worked better than he thought.  What he, Wolfgang and Schwartz were in was an experimental model of what would later be known as a zeppelin.  The bullet shaped balloon object was filled with a gas called helium.  Heinrich had no idea what it really meant, but as long as it kept them flying, he didn’t care.  They had climbed into a special compartment known as the carriage, to observe the skies from various windows and to prepare themselves for the mission.  They slept in special compartments when they could, but they wouldn’t be resting for very long.

“Don’t worry about falling guys, this special device I am wearing on my back is called a para-jet pack” Harbin explained pleasantly.  Para-what pack?” Schwartz asked.  “Para-jet pack” Helga said as she struggled to get hers on “It’s a combination parachute and jet pack.  It has a long silk cloth in to slow down your descent to the ground, so you don’t look like a stain on the French countryside” Helga said grinning.

“Of course you don’t want to get shot at too much, if it makes holes then you should be lucky to have the jet pack, which we also slow your descent and still have enough juice in it to cook Bratwurst for dinner” Harbin grinned.  Schroeder still didn’t get what he was saying.  “Just pull the green strap for the parachute and the red one when the parachute fails, but don’t do it the other way around, it doesn’t work when you try it that way” Harbin explained.

“Alright guys I’m ready to go, so see you on the ground” Harbin said as he threw himself out the side of carriage.  Other Wulfkorp troops followed, not caring about the fact that they were several thousand feet up.  When it was Schroeder’s turn Helga pulled him in for a kiss.  “In case you don’t make it” Helga said smiling.  It was Schroeder’s turn to jump.  “No guts, no glory aye Heinrich” he thought to himself as he jumped out of the carriage.

The moment he left the carriage it felt as if there was no world beneath him.  Schroeder felt the wind beneath his arms and legs, blowing into his face.  “I have never seen the world like this, it’s amazing when your not thinking about going splat against the earth, other than that it’s the most amazing thing I have ever done” he said to himself not minding the fact that there were explosions coming at him from mid-air.  “Damn, they must have some kind of anti-air weapons on the battlements of that castle” Schroeder said to himself as trooper exploded in mid-air.  “Can’t get a shot at them, not from this height” he said to himself again as he thought about reaching for his assault rifle.  To make matters worse, a group of strange black objects were coming at the airborne troopers.

“Black Wings!!!” shouted Helga.  “I see them” Schwartz shouted back not knowing if Helga heard him.  “Pick your targets people” Wolfgang shouted as he unslung his rifle from his back.  He thumbed the weapon to single shot, he would have done auto, but he was told during the briefing that the wind works against you when one is falling and not to waste ammo if one should have a target.  The first Black Wing that swooped up to him took five shots in the chest to dispatch, while the other had his head blown off completely before plummeting to the earth.  Helga gave Wolfgang the thumbs up between shots.

While the Third, Fourth and Sixth Platoons were playing their part in the air, Ulrich and the rest were on the ground with the First and Fifth Platoons.  Second Platoon was out of action after the attack on the Headquarters, so the armored division, which consisted of steam-powered combat suits and tanks, had survived the attack and were assigned to the ground attack units.  The Wulkorp Battleships Barbarossa and Odoacer were anchored off the coast, ready to launch a salvo of batteries when needed. Ulrich liked it this way, he hated being up in the air.  He didn’t see the need why he had to fight from above and not on the ground being one on none with your enemies.

Kurt, Bruckner, Sheila and five Wulfkorp troopers were in the same armored tank as Ulrich, was ready for combat.  <Ulrich, this Dr. Schreiber> a voice cracked over the radio.  “Ulrich here, what’s up?”  <Ulrich, the virus won’t infect you unless you are bitten by the carrier. Once you become overwhelmed by the disease, there is no cure.  Also, make sure you don’t get bitten three times.  I have enough for everyone, but I want to make sure that there’s plenty for everyone.  Understood?>   “Understood doc and you make sure you don’t get in the way unless you know how to fight” Ulrich replied.  <Your such an ass Ulrich, Dr. Schreiber out>

Ulrich grinned at the very thought of her being able to put up a proper fight, sure she could fight with bare handed combat, but with guns, she was a lousy shot.  <Sergeant, this Suit Leader 1, come in over> “Ulrich here over” he clicked the radio.  <Sergeant, what the hell is that in the sky> Ulrich rolled his eyes “It’s that damn zeppelin thing that Commander Braun would be coming in on, what did you think it was?” he said with a sneer.  <I know what that is sergeant > he couldn’t tell if the suit leader was responding in contempt <What I meant was, what is that thing buzzing around the village near the castle>

Ulrich saw it as well, as did many others.  A fly looking thing was buzzing around the village that surrounded the castle, spewing noxious looking green clouds.  “My god” Ulrich said to himself “All troops, prepare for combat, all troops prepare” he said over the radio before reattaching it to the hook.  “Alright boys and girls” he said with a smile “Get yourselves ready for hell, Wulfkorp style baby” he said as he rammed the armored tank into a group of infected villagers.

When the virus was installed upon a special Gyrocopter that would be used for spreading the disease, Blackthorn gave Plague Master a set of final orders.  “The Society must not know of the plans I have to betray them, only myself and you know of it.  After the task is done, meet up with my contacts at Dunkirk, they’ll know who you are and what you look like.  They won’t leave unless their cover has been compromised.  I already gave you the special instructions on what to do, understand?”

Plague Master nodded his head.  “Excellent, wait just outside of Dunkirk for me, If I should not arrive within the week, get in touch with my contacts and they’ll take you to the secret location that I informed you and them of.  Good luck, you’re the only one I can trust.”  With that being said, Plague Master bowed in respect to Blackthorn and then mounted the Gyrocopter.  Once he was in a comfortable position, he started the motor running and then began to peddled, once he started peddling it took off.

Once he was flying over the village, he looked down to see a series off armored vehicles and suits approach the village.  “Wait till they see what I have in store for them” he chuckled with a wheeze.  He then turned a few knobs and the noxious gas began to spread over the village.  “Even if I wasn’t told to spread the disease across the village, the Wulfkorp would still be in for a fight” he chuckled “they are die hard fanatics of the Blood Knights and would gladly give their puny lives for the cause” he laughed out loud.

Once he had run out of the virus, he began to peddle his gyrocopter eastward towards Dunkirk.  He switched off the fuel tanks; he didn’t really need it to get to Dunkirk. The fuel tanks were only there if he got tired of peddling the gyrocopter.  For now, he didn’t feel the least bit tired; he did always enjoy the scenery from above, especially the Normandy coastline.  With his mission complete, he headed to Dunkirk and flew towards a life without the Black Skull Society.
